"The ideal poem would be silence...... the poem made of nothing but white" -Mallarme . . . Known well in your wake your favorite painter Kandinsky now as friend as Marc and Klee, Why absorb him? Fact is you'd not Loved me nor e'er your voice I'll hear or face I'll see He, known to be meticulously dressed and you I bared as often as I could, whose bed I shared whose mouth gave me my breath obsessed through he you may be understood Warm colors moved towards him light like yellow retreat the colder ones, my favorite blue, first Russia then Germany he exiled as I from lonliness and then from you Black is silence without hope or future in distance I've no doubt this light will dim he and I shared restlessness, depression in time your name won't be Love's synonym. "Happy people have no history" - French Proverb |

So I shall write white poems, and have hope in the silence.... Well done, Richard. Enjoyed this very much. Thank you! |

i cannot claim to have understood even a significant portion of this but i liked the way it made me feel; as far as I am concerned that is something in itself. |

You did him proud with this poem. I remember reading somewhere that when he saw color he heard music, and always associated his craft, color, and movements to sounds of various instruments. I think I shall write purple poems myself! ![]() |

Richard, Wow. How difficult to weave such a complex analogy. Well done indeed. ![]() If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

There is something to be said about a poem of white, as well as there is something to be said about a poem of words. Thank you. What light through yon window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun. |

Some things just are, my friend, and your last verse says it all. (Give me the sensual elegance and bold passions of Georgia O'Keefe's flowers any day!) |

You know. I'm still waiting on that book of poetry. Meanwhile, I'm still reading your work in here, Sir. "two hearts will build the foundation for one point of light |

I wish I was educated or intelligent enough to understand a single stanza of the words you weave. I see that many others applaud your talent, dear sir, and accept their positive critique. Until I am older and perhaps wiser, I will continue to study poetry and its licence, and maybe, just maybe, I will understand. Only problem is, I am 68 years of age now, and until recent retirement was an English Tutor at a well known British University, and have very few years left in this world to uncover such perplexities!!! Someone who thinks logically provides a nice contrast to the real world. |

Thanks all for kind replies. Music Maker, you flatter me unnecessarily, I a mere high school graduate (and barely that). This modest submission is about a woman who broke off our relationship with no explanation or e'er another word. I am astute enough to know that it had nothing to do with me or any behaviour on my part. Perplexed (and hurt) I continued to question her reason, even in her wake, by studying her favorite painter for any insight to her character. There of course is no answer there but have come to appreciate modern art more so than prior to this affair. I am also learning that poetry has moved away from it's traditional format (though through rhyme I maintain a semblance of it) and seems to have more to do with association. In summation, time will heal this. |
