Alone
Within my mind
Its dark in here
In these tunnels
Roaming amongst my thoughts

Searching
For a trace
I'm lost, confused
Wandering through my cell

Scared
I find a memory
I hoped would be erased
How do I do it ?
Keep you within me

Hating
Myself remembering
Of you and I
Blanket my thoughts
Lock them inside my head
Suface them never again

Very heavy thoughts, but understandable.

I believe that if we can bring that which we would rather forget, back up to the surface of our minds and into the light, and deal with them, hopefully they will be expunged (if not totally, at least partially) from memory--thereby freeing up our minds and hearts for joyous things that won't be clouded by unpleasant things from the past.

Very powerful writing

Julie, this is a very well-written poem. I like it.
But, if it's about you, I'd just like to say that pushing hurtful
things back down inside ourselves, only makes them hurt longer.
I know from experience. Heartaches need to come to the
surface, so they can be dealt with and accepted or thrown away.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings, Lady.
You have a gift for writing.

Whiskey,

You brought to light what many experience. I've decided to take the dark memory and find the good that was there first, though not always easy,
it lightens our quest for peace. True loving is letting go that person we wanted to hang onto to. True loving is hoping they find peace and love, even if it isn't with us. And, that is not always easy, either...but, imperative to growth and well-being.

Being in a healthy mental, emotional and spiritual place draws healthy people to us...Linda's message is full of wisdom.

Thanks for sharing this great poem with us; a real thinking piece.

Hugs and warm regards, Pat

I have heard if you take your darkest scariest thoughts and bring them to the surface just a little at a time...they start to fade.  Maybe your words are doing just that for you today.

A very nice write on this I must say.

I've taken this same trip many times, and each time I'm amazed how, deep within some chasm, some long forgotten memory lurks.
May you find your escape from yours.
