The hustle, bustle of
most everyone
This time of year,
always on the run
Trying their shopping
to finish soon
Can then sit back and
listen to a Christmas tune
Children are playing
with happy glee
Helping to put up
the Christmas tree
So pretty with all
the decorations
They're getting ready for
all the celebrations
Of parties with friends
and their families
Exchanging of gifts
put under their trees
The trees are put in
front of their window
For passerbys the
decorations to show
Out in the yards,
just take a look
Can't imagine how nuch
work all this took
With lights everywhere,
sparkling and blinking
Some places they're put
took much thinking
All around the
bushes outside
And around the windows
all on the inside
Oh, how very, very
pretty are they
Blinking and sparkling,
as if they play
Looking at them,
they seem to dance
Sometimes we walk amongst them,
getting more than a glance
Being every beautiful
color you can think of
Each strand put in place,
with so very much love
Looking over there, baby Jesus,
with an angel, you see
And over there's an old
Santa, who's smiling with glee
Then there's Rudolph the
red-nosed reindeer,
Leading Santa's sleigh
without any fear
Each year looking forward,
all these decorations to see
They're not just for children,
but also for you and me

Linda, thank you so much. Don't you just love this time
of year? The little girl in me  REALLY  comes out at
Christmas time. I love it all....the  REAL  meaning of Christmas of Jesus,
and the decorations, presents, and good food, too.

ethel...I really enjoyed this--and I am one of those people who hate the holidays.

But I love the free associative feel of this, as though I took a stroll with you, reading your mind quietly.

(hey..it could happen! )

you made feel a bit of wonder again, and that took me by surprise.

Thanks you.

YAY!!! Oh Ethel, I love Christmas sooooooooo much, I love watching childrens faces grow very happy and making snow angels and snowmen and the meaning of the holiday and the lights! (kiss on cheek) I dream so much of sharing Christmas with my Joanna in the future, and then kissing her under the mistletoe, yay! (smiles) This is gorgeous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

really nice write ethel

I love these times of the year; setting up a tree, looking for the right gift for the right person, the parties, and so much more ; this poem made me look forward to that all even more

You're so right gal....gotta keep remembering that....Christmas is usually just a big sad day for me. If it weren't for my kids, I would just leave this planet....

Karen, thank you. I'm glad that it made you feel like
we were taking a stroll. Yeah, it could happen.
I hope that you'll like Christmas this year.

Why, thank you, Salty...
The lights really do have a calming effect when you
watch them, don't they?

Noah, I love those angels and the Christmas tree, too.
(Did you get them from Kit's graphics? I tried those,
but couldn't get them to work right, for some reason.
I'll have to work on it.)
As always, Noah, I love your reply. I'll bet the little boy
comes out in you with all the Chrismas excitement.
I love that litle girl that comes out in me at this time of year.
Isn't it fun?

Oh, Toerag, I'm sorry....
I'll tell you a little secret.....if I don't watch myself,
I can get really depressed around the holidays, too,
with my daughter and her family living 1300 miles away,
and me not being able to see her. And, it bothers me
really bad with me and Gary having to be apart so much.
But, I'm trying really hard to get into the holiday spirit.
That little girl inside of me sure does like all the stuff at
Christmas time. And, there's a little boy in you that likes to
play and have fun all the time, too, now isn't there?!? HaHa!!
Really, Toerag, we sure would all miss you if you
"left the planet", and I know that your kids would, too.

Gosh, I nearly missed this. I just love all the decorations of Christmas, especially the beautiful ornaments as the tree lights glow on them.

If we could just get rid of all the commercialization of such a sacred season, I'd be completely content.
