What Survives Winter

In the garden there is sun,
it shines throughout winter here,
casting charms of imaginary spring
to slay fall’s pall.

The tomato vines should be pulled
but they bear cherries still, -
crimson and golden baubles
extraordinary by extremes –
a sweetness summer would envy.

The geraniums are unaware of December,
blushing madly against wild spearmint
and all this blue.

Be the geranium.

Corinne

Makes me wish I were a flower....  Very nicely done images Cor.  Let us all bask in
the warmth of the sun on a day that could
otherwise be chilly!!!

I lOvE it!
It reminds me of how sometimes we are so involved with our minds that we, just as the flowers, forget the seasons and just continue on, unaware of surrounding.
It made me smile

Keep it up
Always, GG

I adore this! I enjoy your poetic works. They really speak to me and I especially enjoy your garden/nature pieces.

Rich in imagery that puts me right into the garden--I see the flowers, I smell the flowers, I feel for the flowers--in their fight for survival!

Corrine, I like this. We still have some bell peppers on the vine.
It's supposed to freeze tomorrow night, though, so they
may freeze. Thanks for sharing your poem.
