Native America (A Dream) The width and breadth of land outlined By only depth of heart and mind So honored were the gifts bestowed So plentiful the buffalo Beside the streams they would survive Where moon and planets were alive And those who gathered in a tribe In stars and waters were inscribed The land was marked by only mounds Where death was in the sacred grounds Andtraces of their life appear In remnants of a hunters spear Then nations formed with tribal name And languages were not the same Survival was the strongest want The strongest would survive the hunt The land unmarked with time evolved Into the differences unsolved And battle grounds became the prize That lingered in a warrior’s eyes The hour came, the final blow One nation carved by buffalo By snake and deer, by eagle wing One songthat all the tribes would sing The victor’s language was the tongue Of nation’s chief, the sacred one They intertwined in blood and vein And brothers all one tribe became They mixed with others from the south And gathered round a serpent’s mouth The learned taught how stars reflect The numbers of the architect The larger nation taught the ways Of forest, hills and peaceful days All were united in one name And none could fight this nation’s fame But only now respect the land That rested in a tribal hand The seeds of life in furrows laid The land of plenty farmers made The buffalo and wild horse Survived their peaceful measured course The land, the crops, the deer, the stream Became the star of Europe’s dream Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (12-01-2002 10:31 AM).] |

Yay!!! Oh Elizabeth, this is soooooooo precious, sweet friend, I love Native American culture as so much of my ancestors were born on this sacred land and I hereby continue to celebrate and devote myself in honor of their traditions as I possess the blood of the buffalo! (big hugggssssss) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Liz there was no picture that could do these words justice so I left it standing alone to paint a very vivid picture. Bless your heart for this one. |
