Toast and Cranberries

Come and sit with me
on this day after,
we will eat noisy things
like toast and cranberries,

and if you sing
I’ll sing with you,
for I am not filled yet
with the noisome chorus of life.

I’ll sip it up
from this dainty rose hip china,
and slurp from the bowl
where I have swirled memories
with the bright beguile of your smile.

Sit cross legged
around the oak tree
on the grass of empty places
that need filling,
with knees and elbows
we’ll dig for the spirit,
and feel it fall from autumn sky,

the one that glows
from the not yet lit fire
yet speaks with sparked tongue,
that burns time like newspapers
under the first logs of winter.

Let’s make this day the best twirl,
for the gold of sun leaks laughter,
and joy is this minute.

Come and sit with me
on this day after,
we will eat noisy things
like toast and cranberries.

(giggles in delight) Yay!!! I love cranberries, can I also have some blueberry cobbler? (kiss on cheek) This is so beautiful, sweet friend, this made me feel as though I was right by the fireplace talking with you in friendship's beauty, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I sit here in wonder now.

You are so beautiful.

I love this line:

"we will eat noisy things"

it's childlike, and brought to mind the memory of wondering if everyone could hear the roar in my ears as I crunched Cheerios!

Can I keep this one? This is just delicate lace of light hearted. Deceptively simple..but oh yes, I see patterns..so? off to serenity's labratory! (libray *click* and grin)

Love this, but especially these lines:

that burns time like newspapers
under the first logs of winter.

Let’s make this day the best twirl,
for the gold of sun leaks laughter,
                          and joy is this minute.

                          Come and sit with me
                          on this day after,
                          we will eat noisy things
                          like toast and cranberries

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

your words swirl images,
magnetic the cursive slant,
your written verse tantalizing,
my trance effected.
i inspect your lines
with fury, hurrying
to tell you, your pen
puts me in a spell;
i am awed, transformed,
adorned with your inner spirit.
i hear it. i hear it.
i listen.

Maureen, all of this is simply stunning, it's so beautiful, but
this part really touched me. It's so true, for if we concentrate
on "this minute", maybe sometimes things won't be so
overwhelming. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful
poetry with us. I love it, friend.

I enjoy the fresh, joyful and somewhat child-like delight of this write! It made me smile--and as Martha Stewart says, "...and that's a good thing!"

Toast and cranberries?--may I join you?

~ May you have many days such as this!
