Darkness beyond believe Despair in endless sighs Whispered blank prayers Magnetic bad luck Can not shake the doldrums It is better to sleep your life away Mirrors broken seven times over Got to write blues In the music of the heart breaking Crystal shards of lyrical purity In the dust of creating creativity The confines of inner space Imprisoned with your own desires Sentence to a life of trying to make sense In a mind doing its own thing In the confusion of storming emotion Whirling doubts linger on In clinging shadows of despondency Yet a light so strong flashes in a heart beat That it determines its own personality In electrical charges cycling Within unabated uniqueness The flower of creation is germinating In the power of one In determined fortitude Stumbling from a bruised pride Seeking the brilliance of understanding In the knowledge of self nurturing No one else can share this road For it is meant for you to cry on Compassion is someone else’s fool While yours is a one way street Feeding the appetites of others Starving to get recognized As not being a con artist But people still fear the unknown The magnetic mysticism of intense radiation Somehow survives a drooped head In weltering heat taking other down The moisture of a determined fight Scars your determination to succeed At all costs except your moral virtues In a faith no one understands Except the one driving you You move forward in negativity In storming winds howling against you In all the might to stop you But the gentle light within still flickers The road will never be easy for you The silver platter will never be sterling The golden spoon plated in fool’s gold The crown jewels of a pauper But with the special light shining on you You will never have to fear Being totally alone Thought: People do not have to be so religious, by being so vocal that their voices carry drums, within hearts not being blessed in seeing the diversity of humanity. They can let it happen silently by letting it seep out in the strength of their conviction. D.Lester Young 10/16/2002 Tuscaloosa, AL Copyright © D.Lester Young (White Eagle poetry) |

Not only do your brilliant words in the body of the poem have import, but the added impact of your comments at the end of it, drive your message home! I commend you on both! EA |
