Please forgive for me baby, for I’m not coming back,
I’m leaving you because I don’t love you, and it’s not fair,
Not fair to lead you on, not fair to hold me there.

I couldn’t bring myself to tell you – couldn’t see you cry,
I couldn’t watch you hurt, couldn’t answer if you asked why,
I just want to fade away, give your heart time to heal,
Its okay if you hate me, but that’s not how I feel,

I can almost hear the tune to this, it's so catchy that it sounds familiar.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
