In the silence they call to me
and I listen       intently
trying to hear the chants
upon the winds of  evermore
but they are not here,

where the sounds of civilization
race by
disturbing the tranquility
of a past,
when the mountains murmur
would hush in reverance
as the campfires glowed
and voices could be heard
telling sacred stories of old;
their heritage, in tradition told.

I gaze past the mountains of same
searching the darkness        for the light
to draw me near,         so I can hear.
Da dum, Da dum, the pounding
of the drums..............
accompanied only by the         distant howl
of a brethern spirit          in memories hold.

Here, in this place          I can hear........

I know that you can 'read' me
but can you  'hear'  "me"?

Those are words of a real poet. I have been away for some time from Passions, and every now and again I do come by and this poem has reassured me of the greatness of this wonderful family of poets that reside here.
I thoroughly enjoyed your beautiful and well-written poem. Thank you for sharing such beauty.

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love

I too, have a special place where I go to "hear".

It is so apparent to me that you write from the well of your wisdom of the ages and your inner-knowing.

This is a timeless piece of poetry and well-deserving of being read, and 'heard' over and over....It now has a new home in my library, dear poet friend!

~ Congratulatory hugs for this little masterpiece

Donna

In order to hear you have to know how to listen...I can tell that you do.
