Across the white sand that flows On foot the traveler goes Heart and mind set to his home And the comfort there he knows Over river with banks wide His passage won’t be denied No longer will he now roam Crossing ferry he does ride Up and down the tallest hill No obstacle blocks his will Climbing the sheer walls of stone His desire onward still Across the cold winter snow Ever on in ice wind blow Heart and mind set to his home To his life’s hearth he must go Gloom 11/26/02 Rubiyat : This Arabic format is a quatrain wherein the first, second, and fourth lines rhyme. The rhyme scheme is thus; a-a-b-a. A single stanza can be a poem in itself or multiple stanzas may be joined to create a larger piece. |

I don't think I have ever tried one of these. Forget the sand...We are expecting snow, something I get great enjoyment from. M |

i must confess it makes me glad to see this form used outside of asia. it like the way that the poem is cyclic, you took full advantage of the rhyme scheme with that. i also liked the images. -majnu |
