Mister Samuel T Lived frugally Off saved annuity Believed in reality And the brutality Of the streets and T.V. And walked cautiously Dressed sensibly Was robbed repeatedly And murdered finally Buried quietly With no one to see Him reach eternity Too quickly Gloom |

Professor, I had an increasingly sinking feeling as your words drew me down the page to the poor unfortunate man's untimely demise at the end of the poem. Very effective, yet sad and disturbing social commentary. EA |
