"Hail Milford High"...Thy praises we will sing I watched, my eyes following familiar whispers, souls touched by the presence of the past and I smiled, my change not as drastic. And they came, remembering reflections of friendships still in hold, these many years. The night was flawless, seasoning in warmth as the tunes brought out the dancers in us and the floor crowded in "forget-me-not" words. Spun once or twice, flirtatiousness was the promise of the evening, bringing out laughter, teasing and story telling, bashfulness often turning me red. Enticed by the memories, eyes forever searched faces, seeking the spark of youth hidden behind the years of experiences, celebrating those of us who have come together. The cameras were flashing as friend after friend embraced, stood still long enough for permanent memories to be made. And as the evening ended too soon, it seemed as if only yesterday we were walking down the halls, greeting one another waiting for that first period bell to ring. ~~*~~ Eyes were upon me not in pity, but searching for the warmth they knew I possessed, sharing touches of knowing, understanding, yet always asking about him... ~~*~~ But you reached inside me drew her out to celebrate the now ~~*~~ M "Love is not blind - It sees more and not less, but because it sees more, it is willing to see less." I never attended any of mine----you make me regret that. You took me there. That's the gem that glints in all your work. I can walk in and be there. sigh. |

C...usually I see my "friends" on a regular basis... but since my life was in limbo, I had kept to myself for the last 3 years or so. Now it will be different, I had many invites (hopefully not out of pity) and I will take them up on them...for I miss my forever friends from school and the pool where many of us worked summers and still others enjoyed. Constance, I am glad you enjoyed my little walk of memory...I guess I was lucky, our high school class had over 500 students in it and everyone liked everyone else...all walks of life, we always felt welcome no matter the situation. It's a shame it's not like that today. And I am glad I decided to go, even if alone... M |
