The Mire of Retire In the mire of retire An aging foot stands quagmire The tire of a larger cast Weighted down in somber past. The quickened pace has slowed to crawl A sprint would only haste a fall And energy to stay the race Is limited in time and space. And though the search is still suspense The feelings are less intense But still they ache to carry on They never leave or really gone. A sloth that moves at lesser rate A turtle in a slower state But feelings run just as high That peels the purple rose of why. While vivid turns a subtle gray And footsteps weigh of yesterday. |

Seymour - a lovely read with tea and toast, or for that matter anytime. Speaking of time, I like my sister Enchantress am late!! Although we are miles and miles apart, our internal clocks seem to tick at the same tock!! Oh, heavens..I am rambling. Thankyou for your wonderful words. Chris "Hope" is the thing with feathers- |

Mr. T., I can see your poetry on aging being a wonderful addition to some of the fine magazines that are published for the older generation! They are simply wonderful! EA |

To all the above my sincere thank for your time and effort. I had written an answer to each of you but pushed a wrong button and wiped it out. Get you all next time. LOL at myself. |

Enjoyed a lot. So talented with words, you are. Internal rhymes were mentioned above. I looked, I saw them and wondered: How does he do that so smoothly? Do that, period! Such a treat. Thank you, Pat ..without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.. |

Sy....I am starting to relate to these feelings.....maybe not at the "pace" you refer to, but none the less....I do understand this poem very well...and you are most certainly correct... |

Seymour...Enjoyed very much. We race towards retirement, then when we get there we wish the race wasn't over, because we are in a quagmire wanting something to do...Paul [This message has been edited by Paul Wilson (11-25-2002 08:50 PM).] |

For some reason I relate to this poem more on a Monday (after Tori goes back home on a Sunday) and understand that old cliche "you're not getting any younger" more on Monday too Your mind is still going at peak performance and speed for someone who claims to have slowed down. Heck you are one romantic guy and if I wasn't so scared of Isabel I would kidnap ya! |
