Son's twenty-three.
Daughters are now teens.
Paternal grandfather they haven't seen.
He shows little interest if at all.
Rarely manages to call.
Says he's too ill.

But he wasn't always.
So he doesn't mention those days.
Claims he can't go see them
at the airport
at the least
for a few seconds.

I guess curiosity doesn't beckon.
Neither does blood call very strong.
Otherwise, he would not be taking so long.

It's hard to understand the workings of blood ties ... you've captured a side that many will recognize, Radrook. It's sad that we are powerless to help them see beyond themselves. I enjoyed your thoughts in this ... well done.

Best wishes,
/Kit

Fortunately such a attitude is very uncommon.
Well, at least I hope it is since it speaks proverbial volumes.

Thanks for feedback.
God bless!

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Radrook, it is such a difficult situation to bear, and I knowit well too, as I know the whole "that's a guy thing or that's a girl thing" which to me is stereotypical and can get in the way so much too! (sigh) I pray we all can celebrate our unique qualities and just love with being there for one another, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Radrook, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Good write my friend and in ways I will never understand how one could let so much slip by; then again I can understand the many guises and facets of pain, how much easier it can be to avoid than to face.

A well stated and done write.

I relate all too well to this, when families don't stay in touch. Time has a way of slipping by, and you can never go back and recoup all those lost potential moments.
