Black & White

Here sits the novel,
unfinished.

Here, a book of poetry,
read page by thought by page.
Celtic music bumps the air along,
and the light is dim,
unmatched by memory’s glow.

Too many voices are talking,
but you try hard to listen to every one.
Your fingers tap to the beat of heart,
the music of the Celt hurtling time.
Where were you, then?

You are with her, and him, and them.
Scratching recollections like a hen searching her breakfast.
Go through the dusty motions then,
and peck at the bugs that bite.
Pull open archives like a child’s coloring book,
off-white pages with black lines denoting characters.

The color will come, soon enough.

When heaven cries.

Black & White.

An unfinished song.
