~Dried Nostalgia~

The years fall silently from my eyes
cares, sorting themselves into puddles and streams
mirroring bygone deeds and forgotten moments
unanswered questions ride heavy on my shoulders
their weight, slowing me to still

the past has passed
and led me to this juncture
to weave tomorrow into yesterday's tapestry
sepia colored whispers
flowers pressed into a book
like dried nostalgia
the crinkled petals and yellowed pages
powdered keepsakes
of years too quickly lived

how fast, life passes into dusty shadows
memories, no future can re-trace
~

Aye, to retrace history, nearly impossible, but to make new powdery footsteps for others to look back on, ah, now that is our duty...

smiling here at this, some fine needlework of a time gone by...it brings my mind back to the 70's to a time where I was wrapped up in needles and work and fine points, but my mind still swelled with things to say...so I laid down the needle's point to pick up the quill's point...and haven't looked back....

all of my needlework was given away...I do wish I had retained one or two...

thank you for this, Lyra...it's a

Lyra, this really is precious...

It is so touching. I like the entire poem. And this line:

"to weave tomorrow into yesterday's tapestry"... I truly enjoy.

Thank you so much for this.

Hugs and Warm regards, Pat
