I sit in the chair that you sat in delighted that you were once there I gaze at the sun's play-pattern directing my eyes through the glare. The arms of the chair, they surround me. I remember the sky of your eyes. I sit in the chair that you sat in. I let myself drift in my mind. The touch of my lips, first--on your cheek, and then the sun burst-- surprisingly sweet. Familiar and old as ancient's orb greet. I sit in the chair that you sat in. I pray for the next time we meet. Tell me I don't really feel it. Tell me that it's all a lie. And still I will sit here beguiling myself with a memory's eye. The touch of your lips, the last on my cheek-- my only regret was watching you leave... fingernails trailing themselves on my knee-- I sit in the chair that you sat in, pretending that you're still with me. *repost/reworked from open 13* [This message has been edited by serenity blaze (11-22-2002 03:44 AM).] |

This deserves to be in an anthology, or, better yet, a full-length book. |
