Last leaves They skitter on branch’s tip Sashaying to the breeze. In tune with Autumn’s chords They dance, if ever you please. With nature’s cyclic chorus Phrasing their harmonies An elegant pas de deux Is what the eye sees. In supple gymnastic grace That offers reveries They fling to the sky above Like a heart stealer flees The seasons last leaves drop Schussing with bent knees As life in passing shows us The subtlety of trees Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |
