"WHAT ARE THEIR NAMES?"

Congratulations.
You always wanted a pair...
They're beautiful
I imagine
Though I can't see
Past the Apple of my eye

So sweet
The fruits of
Your labor

You reap what you sow
Or so I was told
But little did I know
The deluge of
My tears
Could make fertile
Your barren land...
...make greener
The pastures
On your other side...

Forks in the road...
Knives through the heart...
Spoons in the mouth...

And I can't help
But wonder --
Do they share
The names we chose
In another lifetime...
In cruel homage
Mimicking

The Truth

After all,
They're yours...

Not ours.

This one hit me between the eyes and then kept my eyes riveted to the page until the end where I said to myself--"What was that?!?"--Made me think! Made me reread it! --and when I understood it better, I enjoyed and appreciated it even more!
