Seasons

With great effort is love found, but effortless is its loss
Now melancholy clouds even the most brilliant summer's sun
My heart and soul are set adrift upon unrelenting winds
Like the dying leaves of autumn, they are scattered and lost
Wrapped in a blanket of ancient memories I slowly pine away
Yet no warmth shall I find in these wintered emotions
Hearken I must to the sweet song of the mistress passion
in the womb of her eternal spring my love may be reborn.

(I'm new here, just a brief introductionary poem. Not a particularly good poem but one I've often revisited and tinkered with and thus I feel somewhat defining. Love what I've read so far, many talented people to learn from.)

Welcome to Passions--a wonderfully supportive family of poets. We read, and write, and listen!

I especially loved your last two lines. Very memorable.

I really enjoyed how you use the seasons for love found and lost, and - possibly - reborn again. Yes, I really liked your poem.

And welcome to Passions!

I believe it to BE a particularly good poem.

I'll look for more.

In reply to "which way do we go?", the answer was never "straight", but, "progressively forward".
