Stretch the reed of quill, the feather light,
that one might touch the world in gentle
strokes...

One small brush for man, one giant touch
for humanity, shared in the indigo of
a well, as a drop falls into the abyss of
poetic thought.

O but to touch the mind as does the master,
in words written of an era far begone,
ashes to ashes, quills to dust..

Might this hand, this mortal and humble appendage
of trace, of written thought....be graced with
one small granule of the Bard, of the Raven
and he who chills the night of air..

Languish in the meter of a master, let the beat
of words echo the heart’s tune.  Let the hand
write as only one can wish, with a desire
quenched only by history...

For I, this poet
....wish only that a single written
word be writ and remembered, taken in and
counted as one grain of the flowing word
within an hourglass rimmed with the gold of
poet’s pens...

And then, even after my humble demise...
That this word be remembered and
said again, by yet a poet...

As tribute to those who have scrawled
the word in their life’s crimson and
whispered one last line....as their
last breath...

You are giving me goosebumps!.....I'm still trembling with an overwhelming sense of awe at your talent! I know I'm sounding like a teenage groupie, but I am so impressed by this piece! Every poet should save this!...I just did, but then again, after reading this poetic masterpiece, I don't think I qualify as a full-fledged poet---I'm more like a pipsqueak poetette! tehe

are not worthy...  I beg to differ,  you

To one called the Sun,  this is taken very
much as a compliment...the words...though
brief,  speak softly on ears and eyes that
absorb every syllable....

Thanx KJ

BRAVO!!! Oh Barry, this is so very true, as the words of Robert Herrick ring true from To The Virgins, to Make Much of Time:

"Gather ye roses, while ye may,
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today,
Tomorrow will be dying.

...we are all but virgins of life, and as poets it is a blessing to write of it while those flowers still bloom, so let the blood from your fingers bleed across the canvas and let your children see that contribution from your heart to theirs! (big hugggssssss) This is marvelous, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
