Pass the mustard, or is it pass muster?
Far from reality, this focus now so out of it.
Staring into the gray of a wall, as a line,
dissecting dark and light travels it’s
daily course...

The humdrum of normality, shocked briefly
and sporadically by the sheer starkness of
reality...coasting across a blue sea of what
might be.

Lapping waves caress the ear of hear, the face
of frown,   the hand of the pen that courses
the vein of paper yet written.  As an ever
blinding squint touches eyes red.
A soul shudders in soft sigh.

Bring to me the flask, that I might drink the
wine of life’s tomorrow, entering the door
of creak in a stagger of stoop.  Standing in
weave as does the reed in wind.  Grinning
at the clock’s wall, awaiting the cuckoo of
noon, that another dark might come to red
eyes, languishing in the lap of brine,
as a smile comes over me....

Reclining softly in a Lazy Boy....
pen falling from my hand
as slumber walks the waves
of one’s mind...

As dreams await...
once again..

Wow!!! Oh my gosh, I just love envisioning this man writing down these thoughts then having a certain burst of narcolepsy and sleeping with his hand lying on his wrists, dreaming away! (big hugggssssss) This is marvelous, sweet friend, you have been on a roll lately, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Really, really enjoyed reading this. I like the title and I guess it fits the weaving in and out of this poem. I absolutely love this line:

the hand of the pen that courses
the vein of paper yet written

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Well, now! What have we here?!? Another brilliant write from one of PiP's most brilliant writers!

"Bring to me the flask, that I might drink the wine of life's tomorrow."---one of many impressive lines

The whole poem is exceptionally well done. I loved this vignette of a poet slipping off to neverland--perchance to dream....fodder for future writes.....

Wonderful! Have experienced this myself!
