Under punishing pain
I keep the pace.
I am at one with the distance.

Legs two relentless pistons.
Arms two pendulums swiveling
from their well-lubricated sockets.
Lungs two powerful bellows
feeding the blast furnaces
of my relentless dreams.

I loved this. The description was vivid, and the last line filled it all with meaning. Thank you.

Running

becoming
sanctuary
with every
step I
take
two back
with pride
the alchemist
delights
in the resin
of your mad
experiments

I ran out of breath, arms and legs spiralling frantically towards the couch.

I felt the same as Kacy...HeeHee!! I felt exhausted.
That's the point to poetry, though, isn't it? To make the reader "feel" what you've written down.
Thanks for sharing.

Amazing what one can do with the simple
punishment of running...Did I say punishment?

Yeah,  those pistons that need oiling and
the blast furnace that needs stoking with
more coal...

Thanx for this,  good metaphors...

Yes, but there is nothing like a runner's high!  Don't think you get it with this kind of running, though! (smiling)

My legs muscles are burning. I must go rest, too. This is great!

Warm Regards, Pat

(big huggggssssss) Oh Radrook, keep running, sweet friend, may that second wind lift you up so you'll be running on air rather than in Adidas, this is excellent, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Radrook, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Gee Rad,

Just stopped in to see what was going on here. How did you know that I just got off the treadmill? Once again you have illustrated how excellent and graphic your words are...Yep, need this old body to live out my relentless dreams.
