I walked through a passage
my knees cold and weak
something caught my eyes
it was something to keep

I grabbed on tightly
only to never let go
it made me feel warm
and it never let me show

I felt like an individual
with this something around
how could someone lose it
or leave it on the ground

I thought to myself
I should hang on tight
so I locked it away
but unlocked it every night

I desired to be with it
every morning and afternoon
but never prepared myself
for what would happen soon

it started to make things grim
and I didn't know why
I wanted it the way it was
but it wouldn't let me try

I knew what the problem was
it liked to be shared
but the way things were
I don't think anyone cared

the object was peace
and I wanted it to stay
so I went back to the passage
and sadly gave it away

my lesson was learned
and my dreams more strong
I knew that if everyone shared it
we could all live with peace before long
