Perhaps some have never read these powerful lines?
Perhaps some have read without believing?

In the pursuit of protecting
the liberties of the group,
the rights of the individual
cannot be dismissed.

If you try to steal my existence
in order to protect your own,
you steal the rug of freedom
out from underneath your own feet.

I've heard some chatter
about spies and evildoers,
how strange looking people
are roaming around freely.

They might be terrorists,
but probably not.
They might just be the new
Microsoft programmers
hired to fix your ornery PC software.

I don't know about you,
but I cannot tell a terrorist
by the way (s)he dresses,
or the accent I hear,
or the color of skin.

Look around and be alert,
but remember what we stand for
before you fixate on those
who are different.
Most are not evildoers.
(Possible exceptions are Lng John Ag (obviously an alias) and that mysterious suspicious-acting poet whose code name is Balladeer.)

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Kacy, it is terrifying, I think it is rather rude some people can accuse an entire group of people to be terrorists when it seems our accusations are much more terrifying and what bring out the false terror in our questioning! (sad sigh) My heart goes out to all who are wrongfully accused, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kacy, thank you for sharing!

That is the main point, really.
Yes, I remember the McCarthyisms. I remember being put on a 'potential subversives' list in the late 60's. The only thing I was 'subverting' was the government's inane (and insane) attempt to shut me up when I spoke against war and poverty and injustice.
Some days I feel as if I am starting all over again, on the same page I was on in my history book so many years ago.

Kacy, this is a very powerful write.....so truthful!!!!  I   TOTALLY  AGREE  WITH  YOU !!!! 100% is right!!!!! People of all colors, races, and creeds make up this wonderful land of freedom we call our home. To say that one group of people are terrorists is simply ignorant!!!!

Ethel, we are all terrorists.
Look at how we rape the planet of minerals each day, and then smugly sit around with a full plate of food and a cozy chair...well, sometimes some of us are cozy anyway.

And what we allow to happen to other humans each day if we don't stop the madness makes us accomplices, doesn't it?
OK, I'll back away from the soapbox a bit, but I will never shut up.

I am glad we have you, Kacy...the world tips and tilts each way each day, and we hang in the balance...I have faith that we will go on, and become a better world, but first we have to wait for the others to learn their lesson, and catch up with us who would understand that peace does not take life, they accept it.
