Autumn carries the torch,
lights the trees on fire,
enflames the ground and the sky,
A world of red and orange
kisses the summer goodbye

The leaves burn away,
trees are left bare,
Winter calls for the rain,
to freeze the trees in diamond shimmering,
blows stars out of the sky,
To keep the ground warm

the sun warms the ground,
The sky melts with warmer rain,
The ground bursts with life,
Spring decorates with flowers.

Summer burns the ground,
dries up all the rain.
Leaves blue skys and white beaches in return
Birds sing with happiness,
The seasons start again.

I'm a lot happier than the girl in that picture.....

Wind, if you want to submit another picture, just let me know!   As for your poem, may you see decades more of seasons of every kind...we've been this whole last week remarking on what a beautiful fall we're having...so long and slow, a quiet riot of color....

A very nice poem with wonderful imagery, Wind.  Here at the coast, about the only difference you see in the seasons is when the salt marsh grasses turn the color of a sunset.  The trees keep their leaves and sometimes as early as December the azaleas begin blooming.  Enjoyed much!  Thanks!

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

Wind, I like your picture. Just looks to me like you are, staring off somewhere in the distance, dreaming up another of your lovely poems. This one is delightful, for you captured seasonal changes quite well. Enjoyed.

Warm Regards,
Pat

Liz, I don't know how I missed this when you first posted it. Anyway, I'm glad that I didn't miss it this time it got up here. I liked the way you went through the seasons in your poem. It was very good.

this is a wonderful pen stroke portrait,
lovely poetic mixing of imagery, analogy and personification to paint this scene for us.
that first verse is so cool ..so vivid and colorful.
very well done Poetess Wind.
I too am glad I didnt miss this, my time here is so limited of late, I am having trouble keeping up with all the newer poets,
but I always try to read you, even if theres no time to reply, but wanted to let you know you are very talented and write well beyond your years.

just one line ... one rhyme ... one metered verse ...
if only I could inspire in you ... promised poetic coerce.

Wind, this is so pure, so fresh...

I am saving this shimmering gem! It is truly a diamond! To be able to write like this at your tender age, the sky's the limit for you!---No, I take that back, there is NO limit for a talent such as yours!
