a heart's grave (One for Buddy) |

We buried a good dog today. He had to be "put down." He played puddles on himself-- he whimpered in the claim of hound. I watched a man in kneel of this... I watched him take his fingers--kiss-- to touch this writhing bleed of dog... I watched him take his fingers--kiss... I saw the tears of "coming home" and knew he knew he'd be alone.... I heard a man in weep of moan-- and understood the tears of home that never would greet him the same. Silence is the haunting of the emptiness of what once was-- emptiness is our heart's grave... and ghosts? Our sins left unforgave. |

serenity~ I have no words to do this justice. Only you can write such heartbreak in such a beautiful way. This brought tears to my eyes, and an ache to my heart that won't let go. Love and *BIG HUGS*, ~Vicky "...until you have read the verse on his heart, you have not truly met the poet. ~vlraynes [This message has been edited by vlraynes (11-07-2002 05:19 AM).] |

Im not saying i didnt like this poem... But. My dog, me and him were so close. He knew what i was thinking, all i had to do, is point my finger at him, and he would do what i was thinking for himto do... He was a good dog, but then my other dog, bit somebody ( So they say ) and my dear oh pongo had to go with him, they couldnt be apart. And it was very sad. And pongo was a dalmation too. But it was a good poem, but to me,... It reminds me of what i have tried to forget. I wish to become a great poet some day, but it will only come in time. Til then, I shall write my poems, and wait. |

Oh, Karen, I'm crying, too. I'm so sorry about the loss of this trusted friend. I may have not understood completely until I got my little "Scooter, but I totally know now what you're talking about. I told about Scooter in my poem before. I don't know what else to say. Love makes the world go 'round (unkown) with love and hugs from Ethel [This message has been edited by garysgirl (11-07-2002 10:32 AM).] |

*sigh* It won't let me go... It's haunting, and sad, and incredibly beautiful. Wow, I just don't know what to say. *goes off and thinks* |

Wow. This was hauntingly beautiful. I've missed reading your work, and I think I'm going to start again. Thank you. Kielo According to statistics, a man eats a prune every twenty seconds. I don't know who this fellw is, but I know where to find him. |

Um...thank you all... I should clear up that this was not about me, but inspired by a friend who had to put his dog of 16 years "down" earlier this week. Broke my heart watching his break. Somehow? I became the dog lady. smiles and sighs, I'm the one they call when such things happen. So..the witch does doggy funerals...my life is weird, eh? But I'm happy that you all enjoyed this. I didn't want to write good ole Bud as a cliche'. I hope I did him justice. Thanks again. |

Oh my, you brought it all back there. I had to put down the best dog I ever had; his name was also Buddy. He was 4 years old and developed epilepsy, he had a mal-seisure and I decided he shouldn't spend his quality life that way. It was about 3 years ago and I still miss him. We have 2 new dogs now, but neither will ever take his place. Hugs. |

I think dogs love so much better than people. So very unconditionally. ... and they sent him home happy ... one hundred percent. |
