My daddy was a red corvette,
...my ma a Studebaker,
No matter what the distance,
...poor dad could never take her.

Daddy had a Holley carb,
...momma ran just stock,
In pedal to the metal time,
...mom really cleaned dad's clock.

Four-twenty seven dialed and tuned,
...Hurst four-speed on the floor,
Daddy was a race machine,
...oh, could his engine roar.

Momma's block was stock V-eight,
...a three speed on the tree,
Her engine purred just like a cat,
...as smooth as sweet ice tea.

Now daddy couldn't stand to lose,
...his life it went to heck,
As momma floored her Studebaker,
...and left behind dad's wreck.

I don't think I know all the proper terminology to fully appreciate this--the only thing I know about cars is the number of the local cab service!

But I know enough about analogy, comparison and metaphor AND relationships to appreciate this one.

Enjoyed this. But then, I've dreams of squealing me own tires!

Unfortunately, or maybe not, now being married to my second motor head, I know way too much about cars. So I appreciate the humor and comparison here. Delightful this is. Enjoyed

Tim,
This poem is a keeper and belongs at the top again! Great write.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

(sigh) I have to admit I know diddly-squat about automobiles and mechanics, but I just love the charisma you put into your poetry and I love this! (big hugggssssss) This is a marvelous dedication, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Tim, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
