It's a day that's meant for families,
To give thanks for all our blessings,
To carve a succulent turkey,
Fill up on cornbread dressing.

Sadly some call it "Turkey" day,
To me that is so sad,
It isn't Balladeer's birthday?
But the blessings that we have.

Why celebrate the turkey?
Though it gave it's life for me,
To remind us of Thanksgiving,
That's how it's meant to be.

I'm thankful for so many things,
My kids, my friends and health,
For all these things mean much to me
They're how I measure wealth.

This year when I give thanks,
I'll include LongJohn Silver too,
He's the one that brought me here,
So I can be thankful for all of you.

(Or, you can blame him for me..it's his fault)

I'm so glad "Sunshine made you do it"! LOL For this is too beautiful to be hidden... and a compliment to Long John is too rare to go unnoticed. LOL

Well, I am glad Sunshine made you write this.(Did she twist your arm, or what).This is a wonderful poem. As for Long John, I am glad he brought you here, too.

Mr. Toerag, this is really a lovely, sincere poem. I'm also thankful that Long John persuaded you to come to PIP. I may never have gotten to know you, if not. You ,as well as everyone else here, are so sweet and kind. I am so glad to be a part of this big Family Of Friends here at Passions.

You see what happens?! I go offline for a few days only to come back and have you blow my away with this softer, more serious side of you!! This is really a great write Toe and I'm glad that Sunshine made you do it. I'm also thankfull to LongJohn for sending you here. You all light up my days with your wonderful poetry and wit and I am very glad to have "met" you all here at PIP!

I'm glad that I brought Toerag here
To this wonderful forum PiP.
I can't write as well as Balladeer,
I needed somebody worse than me.

Now I look good when I'm writing
My poems about 'Deer and Toe.
It's pure genius how I get them fighting,
Then watch from the front row.

Thankful For You (from Thanksgiving 2000)

I read a lot more than I post
Not being much a poet
Your poems really touch my heart
Just wanted you to know it.
Some of you have been my friends
For quite a stretch of time
Others I don't know so well
But I enjoy your rhyme.
There are those I love so much
If life should end today
I'd know I'd tasted heaven
Just because they came my way.
And there are ones who seem to know
When I am feeling down
For as I read their words, I find
Smiles replacing my frown.
On this special day of thanks
As I should more often do
I'm sending Passion's poets
A deeply felt "thank you."
