Butler Pennsylvania XIX Grief came flooding over every hill down all our streets right into our center the day the President was shot insisting that he lie in state there in the heart of our town for three days and nights until they came with a caisson behind which a veiled mourner with children walked taking him as we watched across our viaduct and on up our steepest hill until we lost them from sight. Then for days silence hung over our town until that morning early, when we heard wild geese passing over and black ribbons fluttering in the breeze. from: The Butler Pennsylvania Poems © |

Charles, I don't believe I caught your first post, but I caught this, and immediately lost a few decades... I'm going to enjoy your poetry. I did a quick visit to your website, and I think I will be visiting that, as well. How did you come up with the name of Butler Pennsylvania Poems? |

Hey Charles. I'm originally from the "Burg". Recall being in church (catholic school) when the nuns whispered down the pews that "the president's been shot". A real shock to Irish Catholics that the only Catholic president was dead. Still like to know who exactly was behind it. Over 7,500 websites claim our president's daddy may know something. Hmmm. Welcome to Passions. Go Steelers! |
