*A note of explanation. I have a dear friend who sometimes gives me a challenge phrase to use to write a poem. He gave me "she hid in the shadows of the giants". I thought and thought and suddenly, this poem was written. I dedicate it to all those who think their work is not worthy to be here, for I feel that way myself. Passions has an incredible roster of writers and I am so glad to stand here 'in the shadows of the giants'! This is dedicated to all of you - each member - you are all giants in my eyes. ****** She hid in the shadows of the giants who wrote images with such ease She labored to pen her poetry trying hard to always please Simple phrases, simple rhymes no fancy words did she impart This simple poet could only write from the depth of her simple heart Magnificent words abounding Twenty times ten amassed in this place offerings of such distinction they put tears on her envious face As each poet stepped into the light to proclaim their poem most unique She remained in their shadows holding back, she did not speak. Within this shadow of greatness she shields her weary eyes and feels breath of those who write the words that evoke such sighs Rejoice in the words of the giants Always give them their glory due but leave room for the simple words for they are important too. |

Very simply put, PDV... This is a lovely giant of a poem and it doesn't need to hide in anyone's shadow... giant or not... ~ loving chipmunk hugs Lyra |

Sweet Poet deVine, thank you so much for writing this poem and for posting it here. I don't know about the other new ones here, but I know that I certainly feel little amongst you "Great Giants" of talented poets. Every time I see one of my little attempts posted here, it makes me feel very humble. As you said in this poem, I write from my heart, because I could write nothing any other way. Again, I thank you for sharing this. Love To All, Ethel [This message has been edited by garysgirl (11-02-2002 02:12 AM).] |

You speaketh the words many of us thinketh! Well, from your responses, it's official! Your shadow joins those of the giants of which you speak! It is becoming increasingly more difficult for me to see my way around here! hehe Perfect Passions Poem, Poet deVine! EA |

The last poem I read tonight has sure touched my heart. I also feel so "in the shadows" here, and perhaps reading this will give me more confidence and others too. I quit writing so much after feeling like a little sapling in a forest around the "big trees" for a long time and my muse such as it was vanished. Then eventually I got enough confidence back up to even try, so I know this one well. Yada, yada, in short, a good message with the greatest intentions. A smile costs nothing but makes someone rich. nd let's not forget those who write poems from under a rock - like Toe, or those who post from under the refrigerator - like 'Deer. They need our sympathies, too! heh - nice shot, ol' Long John - it'll take those two scalawags at least a day to work up a comeback |

Thank you all for your replies. Sometimes it's good to remember that we are all in the same boat here - no matter the level of quality of our writing, we are all poets who write from our hearts. Keep writing! |

YOU feel that way? It must be a poetic syndrome. It comes naturally. A great write. Kielo According to statistics, a man eats a prune every twenty seconds. I don't know who this fellw is, but I know where to find him. |

Sharon, I know that I've already replied to this wonderful poem of yours. It touched me and helped me so much, though, that when I just ran across it on these other pages, I decided to bump it back to the top. I think it's really special for someone of your poetic grace to still feel the way you said in your introduction. You are a marvelous writer and you have such humbleness to go along with it. THANK YOU VERY MUCH, Lady Poet deVine "Love makes the world go around" |

Definately Bad(in a good way...) <--- if that makes sense...LoL, anyway i truly loved the poem, it amazes me that all that came from a fairly random phrase, it adds a very unique characteristic to the overall creativity of the poem. I like! thanx for the read... |

Brother Sharon if the simple words weren't important too, I would be out of business From one that may never be a "giant" I try to sure learn from them. I really enjoyed this so glad you reposted it. |

There are no simple words - Each and every one is equally as important as the next.. and yours shine among them... Nicely done, PdV... |

Sharon you have expressed so well that which I know so many of us have felt...and I believe that each of us writes from our hearts, which makes us all giants so to speak........ I know these words you gift us with so well. I still stand in awe of so many. Very well written and thank you for such a [This message has been edited by Gentle Spirit (11-22-2002 10:54 AM).] |
