The Rearview Mirror

There is a simple road
that leads toward home,
as familiar as my own
mirrored reflection.
Yet, within a sequence
of a thought wave
a reddened traffic signal
hinders arrival.

The rearview mirror
showed signs of danger,
as memories from past
shadowed around my mind.
That sudden noise
made signs of danger real,
a twenty minute simplicity
Gone away.

Amazing perspective envelops this piece...but, oh, my, was the noise an accident...did someone rear end you? I hope not!

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

I liked this.  Something so simple can be taken from us so quickly.  Excellent.

Yay!!! Oh Ria, I'm so happy to read your beautiful words again, sweet friend, I know this red-light feeling too but always let the past be in back of you where you can't see it and you will always be free! (smiles) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ria, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Ria,

This is a wonderful poem about your experiences the other night. I'm responding to this as once again you are driving that familiar road. I'm so glad that it was just a fender bender and no one was hurt. It's amazing how you two can find the good in everything.

VAS, Thank you for reading and replying, glad you enjoyed it. Yes, we were rear ended, but it was just little damage, but it managed to bring back memories of a time many years ago, that still keeps me eying the rearview mirror when stopped.

the_loner_23, Thanks for reading and replying, glad you enjoyed it.

texasrose, Thank you for enjoying this poem.

Noah, Thanks for always being here to read all the poetry here. It is always a pleasure to see that you have replied.

Midnitesun, Thanks for reading and replying, glad you enjoyed.

Dawn, Thank you for reading and replying, thank God that it was just a fender bender, and nothing worse.
