"Real Deal" (04/12/02) © 2002 Brian Eggertsen, All Rights Reserved Verse 1 I can't - hang "me" in the closet Throw on - an new personality, Though this - city's one big desguise I would hate to reek of low selfasteam. Watching - this all year masqurade Can't tell - which stories to believe, And who - bought their costumes on sale Maybe this scene is you but it's not me... Refrain All the faces and fake names, All the places and lame games, Dry embraces filled with stains. We're losing the real deal. The pretending and lieing, The defending and sighing, Money spending, no buying, We're losing the real deal. Verse 3 Counting - all the millions of dreams From old -bar wiping teenagers, Didn't - become what they wanted Now they will wear that same suit for ages. Grandma' - becomes tweenty again Facing - facts she's dried out's a bitch, Now she's - in tight shirts and short scurts Going back to 'round nineteen forty six.... Refrain |

I love the first line and could really relate to all the facades and identities teens - and everyone - throw on today... I wish more people would realise what's "real" and spend more time on that! "And who - bought their costumes on sale Maybe this scene is you but it's not me..." Amen! The soul would have no rainbows, had the eyes no tears. |
