For The Sake Of A Promise Basking in the shadowed moonlight She lies crippled next to the shore While droplets of salty tears trickle down her cheeks And her mind ventures back to years before. Memories softly touch her darkened mind Encasing her soul with their heated pain Bounding the heart with their deadly grasp Still mourning a love she shall never have again. The oceans ripples gently wash over her feet Offering a release for her shattered heart But her soft hands hold tightly to her tears For the sake of a promise and a love she will never depart. This is one of the most heartbreaking poems I have ever read. The sensitivity of a promise broken is incredibly portrayed in the words and the feeling permeates this piece. Keep writing. Death is not extinguishing the light; |

Wow there was some sophistication and elegance here that is really, really impressive. There was also vivid imagrey that narrated the poem without a typical narrative style which I personally don't like yet seem to find myself using constantly. Well done here. Applause is deinately deserved. ~I haven't memorized all of the cute things to say but I'm working on it~ |

This is breathtaking, Amy. You've got a great knack for complex imagery... your work is almost always candy for the senses. I love that in a poet. I felt myself truly wondering about what might have brought on this poem... whether it is about you, someone you know, or if it is simply a narrative... borne of the innermost reaches of your mind. Regardless of this, you expressed it wonderfully. Excellent work again, Amy. Parasite Learn to place poetry before people |
