Gladiator He stands still As the cold wind whips across his gritty face He begins to march forward But sees a small sparrow It bounces off of the branch and flutters away He looks up and smiles Little does he know of his fate Thousands on blck horses ride towards him with great speed Ready to battle Ready to fight Ready for his fate to take flight He mounts his white horse And sniffs the bitter air The faint cries of battle are heard in the distance He cries the ready shout As the troops march forward Will his life continue Or will he die tonight? The bloody battle is fought And our warrior thrusted to the ground He gasps what he thinks is his last breath Looking up into the sky He sees his childs smile His wife`s eyes Not now does he want to see his field of green Just one more day That is his dream Blurry are his last few thoughts Bloodspattered bodies Covered in a fresh snow His breaths are now more steady and comlpete He retreats home Basking in his valour This is not his final sleep |

I agree with Sam!! "holy guacamole allison" this is really great. But there's this one thing that made me want to cry.. about how you said he saw his childs smile, and his wife's eyes right before he 'died'... it made me realize that when we die, we remember the only good things that happen, that make you want to live, and regret your death... and that's not fair, man.. lol- sorry to bring all thsi doom amung ur wonderful poem!!! I loved it man, I'm adding it to my Private Library. (see, i did this whole thing, without talking about jon. ... oh carp..) "i told you i'd never say goodbye . now i'm slipping on the tears you made me cry but that's what i get" |

Very, very nice work! I love epic poetry, and you've described it with very precise skill and excellent choice of words... you obviously invested a great deal of time in this, and I assure you it was worth every second. Very good work. Parasite |
