Return Home Our paths crossed for one day. They never crossed before. Should they not cross anymore? Is there anything I can say? Anything I can do? To make our paths intertwine forevermore. What do I say? Say what I must do. What I must is what I may. To do what I say I will today. What I must do to be with you. But what would it be for? So far away, Away in Yesterday. I'll need to hold you now. Savor today. My love for you will grow. As it has before. But I must let go, because we are different, And will return to home tomorrow. Home is where the heart is. Or where it should be. It is still with you. Not back at home with me. I gotta let go. Realize we're through. But maybe for a moment, A moment full and true, Where we could say what we think, And the other would hear, And you'd say something, Not what I fear, But to me is pleasing. So far away, Away in Yesterday. I'll can't hold you now. Suffer today. My love for you did grow. Much more. But I must let go, because we are different, And will return to home tomorrow. I see you. You don't see me. You could if you looked. If maybe for a moment you believed. If you just saw, Why I've loved you so far. And let your mind set your heart free. Maybe then you'd see... © Matthew Peterson 2003 |
