Your Own Insignificance |

I don't like the title for this one, but it comes from a theory that I have: There is no worse feeling than the awareness of your own insignificance. I guess this poem came from my belief that for someone to be indifferent to you is almost worse than if they hated you. At least with hate, you know they care enough to let you under their skin. But with indifference comes a complete lack of caring, a lack of emotion. I dunno - to me that sounds worse. Anyway - this just sprung from that idea. Enjoy. You can weather all my fears and all my words in anger thrown You can brush off fire in my eyes and hatred in my tone. For however negative these reactions, what they allow you to see is whether or not you can ignite some passion inside of me. But my weapon is my silence, my lack of response or care. I ignore you with my numbness and look through you with my stare It's a fate much worse than anger or any pain I could inflict to leave you empty and alone with a cause but no effect I keep emotion buried behind a wall of indifference - the dead end to your purpose, the rejection of your existence. |
