Harbormaster What I’ve learned of highschool relationships Know every one is built to sink Freshmen, sophomore or whatever you are Or how mature you think you’ve become Just quit playing dumb, Little girl hearts are naive and made to break, It’s an old harbor yet You’d carry on like you’re the first to wreck, This sea’s high enough without your tears By now every girl’s been drowned before Just admit you can’t swim, Even got the nerve to believe any boy is obligated To fish your broken heart from the bay, Clean the mire off your soul for what? Rather leave you in that lesson-teaching oxygen stealing Salt water until you form a clue out of that rusting sensation. ---- Now I am harsh! Now I am the enemy. Hate away! For I am truth and you cannot escape me. I am the prophet |

interesting poem...i liked the truth it brings, hearts are so easily broken, and yet it is never the first one to break, nor the last. i shuold have read that before i got engaged in high school. thanks for the good read. i liked it at least. ~*Alnilam*~ |

As a teenage girl I completely agree with your message, and I appreciated your bluntness in this piece. I choose not to date..because I have seen the outcome it has had on some many girls. I will wait until I am mature, or fully developed emotionally. If you don't even know yourself how are you gonna know if someones right for you? Anyway..great poem. ~Lex... |

ahh I know this all too well. I had my heart really broken for the first time at 14. That's too young to be feeling that magnitude of emotions. I thought I was mature enough to handle it at the time, but I know now that I wasn't. Right now I'm not even 16, but I have learned a lot, one thing being that even with all the pain that relationships bring, it is worth it. To me, love conquers everything. That's my opinion, I'm not asking anyone to agree with it, just accept that there are people out there who believe that love is above everything. They are hopeless romantics. I am one of them. And since I have talked up one wall and down another, I think I'll stop. -Jen |

Absolutely amazing! I can relate to this poem more than I'd like to admit. LOL. You did a wonderful job of expressing the woe of teenage heartbreak and heartache through such a clever metaphor. I definately enjoyed reading this poem. So far, you're one of the best I've seen around here. Keep it up! ~J.Lynn "In life you must dance like no one is watching, sing like no one is listening and love like it's never going to hurt..." |

Truth? Perhaps, but definately there is only one version of the truth here, the post-war version... Indeed, some have been drowned more than they care to admit, indeed some have felt the need to be rescued by a knight in shinning armour, only to commit themselves to sea once again...However, there are those who have managed to pull themselves out of the water without the help from males or supposed love...What of those girls? Tears will come, they cannot be helped, tears are infact a contributing factor to a healthy exsistence, but I refuse to leave myself to rust purely because some male doesn't think I satisfy whatever fantasy he may be having at that precise moment in time... Rusting is for those who have given up... None the less, it was a good write...and a good read. ~I haven't memorized all of the cute things to say but I'm working on it~ |

In my experience, (and go ahead and disagree) most teenage girls have the same two flaws...romance and fatalism. Not a good combination. "Our child is in your hands |

Yes, I some what agree... However I don't believe that being a romantic is necessarily a bad thing, and as for fatalism...well...what's the point in trying to change something that has already happened or is inevitable will happen? Being at the head of an uprising trying to change things doesn't make them better...it only makes the hurt they caused that much worse. And where would the world be without romance? There has to be some hope, if you can't find it through romance then I fear the world is already dead... ~I haven't memorized all of the cute things to say but I'm working on it~ |
