I cannot say that I live;
I merely go from day to day
inside a body that breathes and pumps blood.
I have all the damage of living
but I never had any symptoms.

I wish I were an artist
so I could capture the beauty of a sunset
with a simple stroke.
Instead this beauty simply
eats away at my heart
and I do not deserve to be a witness to it.

I would not say that I am alive;
To be alive means to experience
and to know the person that you are.
I carry all the burdens of life
but I can feel no weight on my shoulders.

I wish I were an artist
for it is far too hard to capture beauty
inside a single verse.
Instead this beauty escapes
the grasp of the poet's pen
and I know that I am not deserving of it.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate your responses. I was afraid this wouldn't be read by anyone 'cause it was kind of on here for a while with no replies but then people started reading it and it makes me feel good. Thanks again.
