Its weird and long Fire alarm rings I think nothing of it one of the kids pulled it I walk out of my class, unaware We always joked about those kids the ones who wore black they sat by themselves and snickered at us, the cool ones I never paid much attention to them I was to good for them I was the top they were the bottom I never took the chance to talk to them He was right there In that jacket then hung to the floor A weird twisted smile on his face He reached inside the jacket My face turned white this happened on movies not here, not now I am to young to die I looked to my right there stood Mikey I had a crush on him his eyes looked back to me in horror "Lockdown, lockdown" went over the intercom Its a little late don't you think? He still stood there The large shotgun in his hand My heart started to race now God if you have to listen listen now I need some help here, don't take me not now I hear the sirens in the backround Who else is holding up my school? The class stands there, unable to move Whimpering comes from behind me I know who it is, Lynnea Sweat goes down my forehead I want to run, just turn and run Mikey reaches for my hand A sign that I am going to be okay The twisted smile on his face melts away He makes eye contact with me I see the hurt, the pain his smile becomes a little mental, the gun raises I close my eyes, one last prayer for me I hear a shot, tell my mom I love her Tell kat and steph they can share my cds I want the casket you can write on Something hard hit the floor I was still standing All alone was a lone hero standing at the door A young policeman 24 or 25 His gun raised still He slowly lowered it "Its alright guys, come on" he said I look around me The faces with the color drained out To scared to cry, all feeling to alone to walk out Mikey still holds on to my hand He gives it a little squeeze I look once more at him His eyes well, he knew who that gun was pointed to I take a deep breath in, say a quick thank you Take a slow step out into the warm spring sun " I think I got a tan from the light in which i was basking." |

I think that this poem is heartwrenching (sp?). It certainly brought a tear to my eyes. ^~^If we cannot live so as to be happy, let us least live so as to deserve it.~*~ |

Geez that gave me a chill. As I read this, I could see myself in the same position. Very good. Jen To hate you must first have loved. |
