With past in mind I see the way we used to be We talked about our lives The problems others couldn’t see It was a kind of friendship Where lies were never told Many secrets revealed For the other to hold With present in mind I see the way we are How we’ve changed so much We’ve come so far But this distance traveled Was in a different direction Our friendships changed We’ve lost our connection With friendship in mind I want back what we had No awkward tension Or reasons to be sad If that means not dating Then take it back ‘Cause I’d do anything To get our friendship on track With future in mind I hope for the past Friends like we were Friends sure to last To have you there Means so much to me Who I really am You could always see **It's better to be hated for who you are, than loved for who you are not** |

I've had a few loose friends that have moved away over the years and we lost touch. This poem made me think about them. I think that it can use a little more rhyming though. Good job! +Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood.+ |
