I wrote this for my mom awhile ago. Tell me what you think! Sometimes I know the words to say, Give thanks for all you've done, But then they fly up and away, Quickly as they come. How could I possibly thank you enough, The one who makes me whole, The one to whom I owe my life, The forming of my soul. The one who tucked me in at night, The one who stopped my crying, The one who was the expert, At picking up when I was lying. The one who saw me off to school, And spent sad days alone, Yet magically produced a smile, As soon as I came home. The one who makes such sacrifices, To always put me first, Who let me test my broken wings, In spite of how it hurts. Who paints the world a rainbow, When it's filled with broken dreams, Who explains it all so clearly, When nothing's what it seems. Are there really any words for this? I find this question tough, Anything I was to say, Just doesn't seem enough. What way is there to thank you, For your heart, your sweat, your tears, For ten thousand little things you've done, For oh so many years. For changing with me as I change, Accepting all my flaws, Not loving because you had to, But loving "just because," For never giving up on me, When your wits had reached their end, For always being proud of me, For being my best friend. As I com to realize, The only way to say, The only thank you that's enough, Is clear in just one way/ Look at me before you, See what I've become, Do you see yourself in me? The job that you have done? All your hopes and all your dreams, The strength that no one sees, A transfer over many years, Your best was passed to me. Thank you for the gifts you give, For everything you do, But thank you, Mommy, most of all, For making dreams come true. Love, Your Daughter "The reason I talk to myself is that I'm the only one whose answers I accept." |

Wow... I REALLY liked this one. I can totally relate... I hope/wish everybody had a mom like this when they were growing up, but unfortunately it's not this way for everybody. This was great, it flowed very well. Thanks for posting, you have my vote. - Cody - |

Oh wow..that's all I can say..not true I'm a very talkitive person! But really this was so sweet and tender and heart felt and your mamma must just be bursting with pride to have someone like you in her life! It reminds me with me own relationship with my dad actually cause that's who I grew up with but it truley is touching...wonderfull ~Live and Laugh~ Always strive for excellence never perfection. ~Bella~ [This message has been edited by *Belabebeautiful* (04-24-2003 11:52 PM).] |

Wow. this is great. I read this in one of the chiken soup for the teenage soul books, and i've been wanting to know - did it make your mom cry? It's a wonderful poem. I had my mom read and she cried. Great work!!! |

Oh, Jessica! This is so sweet! It nearly brought tears to my eyes, thinking about my mother. I really hope this gets into the book, but I'll keep it in my library anyway. Heh, I noticed you wrote "Stairway to heaven" in your profile... Did you read about it somewhere? _,,,^.^,,,_ |

I know this: We can never tell our parents enough that we appreciate them for what they have done for us. +Genuine poetry can communicate before it is understood.+ |
