Hey! I wrote this the other day. Not sure where the inspiration came from, but I think it's one of my better poems I've written lately. Let me know what you think! COFFEEHOUSE As he picked up his guitar And he took the stage On his face he had a smile But his heart began to rage While he sang his song He caught her eye She took each word to heart And felt like she could fly After his set they all applauded She knew she had to meet this man And this night, she felt Was where the rest of her life began Chorus 1: "I felt when you were singing Those words came right to me But I must admit, this coffeehouse thing Is not my cup of tea" They sat down at a table Talked for an hour or more There was no way of knowing What their future had in store Chorus 2: "To walk up and talk to a stranger Is not at all like me And I must admit, this coffeehouse thing Is not my cup of tea" Repeat Chorus 1 Repeat Chorus 2 Repeat Verse 1 - Cody - Note To Self: If Pigs Can Fly, So Can I!!!   (sigh) Oh Cody, this would make a great rock ballad, sweet friend, I can imagine this recorded as I hope soon you get this recorded up on MP3 format so we can all listen to it! Awesome stuff here! It would make a great song. There were a bit of places where the flow seemed to go off track, but it was good, nonetheless. It reminded me of this scene in Nick Bantock's "The Forgetting Room" where Armon's grandfather's friend's wife (whew!) was recounting how he and his wife (Armon's grandfather and grandmother) met. Except she was reading poetry and not singing.  Well, anyway, I really liked this one! Keep it up!Leah  |
