Inside the shadow's shadow

0 posted 2003-02-15 02:44 PM

There is a secret place I know,
The path is silent, lacking foe.
One moment I'm awake in bed,
The next my worries all have fled.

I am carried through the night,
Going without a fight.
Floating past every logical grid
To the world beneath my lying lid.

Pristine rivers and their gurgled speech
Is the scene that I would like to reach
Tonight. I need a peaceful place
That is untouched by your corrupt face.

Traveling through the endless dreams
I scurry away from the headlight beams
That are your eyes, like a frightened deer;
For with your eyes comes haunting fear.

Is it really, trully so
That you'll always follow where I go.
Even in Dreamworld you are there
Can I not escape? Can I not prepare

For each inevitable meet we meet
Why is it I cannot move my feet?
This hold you've on me, thrown the key,
A lonely sailor on the sea.

Though some say wishes are never born,
After they're wished by the wisher's thorn...
Yet I believe I will succeed
To escape your lust, your hate, your greed.
Even in only in my dreams
(At least to me,) then it will seem
That I am living life, a life for me
Untouched by your harmful, tossed debris.

If I can conquer you in sleep
Then into Dreamworld I'll stay deep-
Away from you and your lashing words.
My eyes now opened, and yet still blurred.

And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. -Kahlil Gibran

Lauren~
This is a VERY well written piece.
It held my attention all the way through,
and I very much enjoyed the read.
Nicely done.

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.

Lovely imagery!! The rhyming seemed forced in a few places but other than that it seemed to flow easily and it was an over all enjoyable read!

People always ask me why I don't look toward my future I tell them to many interesting things are happening today.
