The light bulbs burn bright on my aching head Dare I wonder why this emotion stands on the Frontline? Should I inquire why something this bad Is nothing new? I have none of the answers yet Because I am too brittle to look for them Perhaps if I know the truth It will crush my fragile mind There I would be, collapsed and alone again I wore the guise of lies because the truth hurt People tell me to trust in God and he will help Why would he help now when he never has before? Never has He reached out of that light above To save me from oblivion That's what hurts me the most The truth that no one is coming That truth scared me, gilded me Hard as a rock, a strong appearance But nothing good inside I had given up, there was nothing left I was too far gone, and at that point I didn't want to be helped Such a sad state of affairs But people don't realize it is 100% true Bad parenting, abuse, depression, enough stress... Enough stress to fill an ocean But the worst is the amount of kids Who sacrifice themselves I must hold my tongue though Because that word is one of those unmentionables A bad word I'm talkin' about suicide! Oops... I guess I slipped. You can’t speak it on T.V. At school, work, or even in your own home That's the problem everyone is afraid of that word And that’s the saddest truth If they stay afraid and don't acknowledge it Then how do they expect to save a life? |

Darkness~ You've penned an important message here, and I applaud you for it. It's so important to not only listen to young people, but to really 'hear' as well. Thank you for sharing this. Nicely done. ~Vicky "...until you have read the verse on his heart, |

"That's the problem everyone is afraid of that word And that’s the saddest truth If they stay afraid and don't acknowledge it Then how do they expect to save a life?" --good point you have here. if only more people could see that. What you have written down there is deeply touching. It reaches out and grasps my soul and won't let go. Suicide, the saddest of truths and the most deadly, literaly. This poem is probably one of the best that I have ever read, and I don't say that lightly. People always ask me why I don't look toward my future I tell them to many interesting things are happening today. |
