ODE TO THE PENGUIN- inspired by my strange friend!

Black and white oddballs
In permanent pressed tuxes
Trekking along
Their icy wonderland

With their strange walk
they all march in unique unison;
But one loses step
and he clumsily falls

Then, like living dominoes
They all slip and fall
swooshing down the glacier-side
as a spotted wiggling mass

They reach the chilly water
in which they play and swim
Penguins, oh lovely penguins
Forever live in your frolic ways!

I had serious writing block this afternoon so i asked one of my friends on the phone, "Hey, say one thing right NOW!" he replied "PENGUINS" and the rest, as they say, is history.

Thanx for comments I was scared that being a bit "different" may change your opinion of my poetic potential. Thanx again!

That was pretty dang good. You used some good words to describe the penguins. Excellent. Don't worry about writing something out of the ordinary, it wont affect other people's view of you (well, not a whole lot anyway).

I'm one of the omly people I know who doesn't absolutely adore penguins. I am kinda fond of the rockhoppers, though.

Love conquers all, so I must be in a losing battle.

haha, penguins...great stuff. my mom for some reason calls them 'pigwens' and no matter what everyone says she still does. we're like "pang---wins" "exactly, pigwens! that's what i said!" everyone loves penguins, so it's pretty much guarenteed that everyone will love your poem, quite a ruse ;-) lol.

....What I want is a cross between Penguin and Flamingo....think those little fellows would look fine in pink.... like the pimps of the animal world maybe, but fine....
