*It's Father's Day in Australia and this poem came about when my grandson asked me who could he buy a present for since his daddy was dead. I never knew my daddy He left before I came He didn't give me anything Except he gave his name Mummy says I look like him When I smile or frown And she says my questions are his, both the dark and clown She says I have his humour And all of his great charm She says that he could call the stars And hold them on his arm I have other adult men To help me play my games But my friends say, "Where's your dad" It's really not the same I wonder where you are dad And what you're doing now Do you sometimes think of me? And how I've grown somehow Daddy I still miss you Though I know you can't come back If you'd been here would I have known the something that I lack? Daddy I still want you I want you here at home Even though you've never held me Or it's you I've ever known Daddy I still love you Even though you can't be here And wherever you may be I wish you a happy year Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind. Very sad but oh so touching write. My picnic partner is writing the blues today....well done. Sad that these things happen. I'd like to write a chorus for this sometime. |

Kethry, your heart is showing again. I hope you'll allow Ethome to write a tune for this, as I have finally figured out how to keep his music on my computer [see? old ladies CAN learn new tricks! ] and I know it would become a favorite of mine.... |

(big hugggssssss) Oh Kethry, I'm so very sorry you never got to see your father, but know he will always love you and from up above he will always guide you with love and light! (sigh) My thoughts are with you, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kethry, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Your poem is really good. Keep up the good work and I'm sorry about your dad, but I have never known my dad I think he might be dead now though. Andrea |

Kethry - a very warm hearted write to read. I can only suspect what he has gone through missing his Dad... BC |

Keth beloved heart sister and caller of the moon’s song, you KNOW I LOVE this don’t you. Loud bravo’s and bravissimi’s coming from me here. Jay may not have known his daddy, but he has I believe, come to know just how much his mum, his aunt, his uncle and most importantly his nana love him. He is bright, clever, loving and lively, surrounded by a family who show him just how special he is. I’m just as certain he knows his daddy would be as proud of him as you all are. This is a truly wonderful poem and an absolute delight, sad yes, but also a fine piece of work I love it utterly utterly utterly, and you just knew I’d say that. Love and warm stuff As always Mushy Breathe through the heat of our desire |
