The Naming
.
Darkness opened before her
A doorway to the abyss
The cool silk of the blackness
Encompassed her mind
Reaching inward to grip
Her very soul
It took a moment for her to realize
She wasn’t alone.
.
She could feel a presence
There in the chasm
Immense, powerful, ancient
Almost overwhelming
She caught her breath
As a consciousness probed
Her thoughts, fears, desires
And her body trembled.
.
A question formed in her mind
“Do you know what I am?”
.
“I believe I do, yes!”
She answered.
“But why am I here?
What do you want of me?”
.
Incomprehension flooded her mind
Followed by a rush of emotions
That she knew to be her own.
The onslaught staggered her
And she stumbled.
Something caught her
Gently, firmly and set her aright.
It felt smooth, warm, rigid.
.
“Are you able to stand?”
The question entered her mind.
.
“Yes! Emotions, you don’t know!”
.
In her mind an image took shape.
“You have a thing within your kind
It is not a thing of my kind
I do not require it to survive,
But I covet it!
And this is my puzzlement.
I do not understand this desire
For this thing within your kind.
Teach me?”
.
“In the teaching of this
There will be a transformation
In YOU!
.
“You have looked into my mind.
The answers you seek are there.”
.
“Yes, I have looked within you.
For a short time.
But in the merging of our minds
There will be a transformation
in YOU!”
.
"I am ready.”
She answered.
.
“Then let our minds mingle,
And the transformations begin.”
.
She felt herself being cradled
In a large hand
As a mother would cradle a child
She leaned back relaxed and waited.
.
"I will go carefully,
So as not to overwhelm you."
.
She felt a pressure against her consciousness
As if something were trying to push her mind aside.
But instead it engulfed and incorporated itself
As a part of her mind.
Memories........yes
But they were not hers
Of times and lands distant past.
Soaring above the mountains
Sleeping upon beds of gold
And a song.......soft and soothing
It whispered it’s tune to her mind
She blushed at the memories of mating flights
And wept at the slaughter which forced them
Into the depths of the earth.
So much.........so long......
Her consciousness aged centuries
And her body  felt the weight.
.
He marveled at the complexity of her mind
For such an nursling race
Remembering her life’s precious moments
Her emotions strong and powerful
He searched for the answers to his queries
These emotions were bewildering things
Of such magnitude and diverseness
Then there it was.......
Not the simple thing he had expected to find
But  elaborate ....refracted like light thru a prism
Manifold.......
Love of parents........this he expected
But the aftermath of childbirth left him frazzled
But he had also expected this love of offspring
Friendship.....love of a friend.....puzzled him further
But he devoured this emotion with relish.....each morsel
.
And when the merging of minds was complete
And he withdrew his consciousness from hers
.
“I discovered an entanglement of this thing you call Love
I do not understand it fully.....it is in itself a puzzlement.
But I thank you for your teaching!”
.
“I am at a lost for all that I have learned of your kind
Follies of the past........the marvels of the air.......
Sigh.................I thank you also.”
.
“You are no longer merely a human woman,
Now you belong in part to my kind
Just as I in part belong now to your kind.
You shall have a name fit for one of my kind
But also one to reflect the changes instilled in you
Because your innerself has lived thru me
The vastness of my lifespan..........
I name you......Enotneicna”

Enotneicna/AncientOne~
This is just soooooooo incredibly good~
Fascinating ... and in questing you have both gained so much about the other and of the other~
And .... it is good~

I felt each stage of regression ... each slide into memory~

You would have known ... without my saying ... but I have been to the chasm and returned with more than I thought possible~

My sister .... my friend ... always joined in the tellings~

Eno darling heart this is an awesome read, I wasn’t in here yesterday except one small brief visit, I’m sure you understand why. If it wasn’t for Margie girl I would have missed this and that would have been a terrible shame because this is exquisite writing. I really lived within this poem you write incredibly well

Love and warm stuff
as always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

Eno ~~ This is incredible. I could feel all of your experience through your writing. I felt I was on the journey with you.

I so look forward to reading more from you. You are a gifted spirit.

Blessings of Peace....Marti

Every now and then take a good look at something not made

There will come to you wisdom,

Eno:  What an unusual and outstanding piece of work.  The imagination's journey is so vast and so complex, here, and yet was easy to follow along. Wonderful work and hope you will continue to post regularly. Would love to read more.

Trillium...Gentle Spirit...Kethry...EarthenSoul...

Such words you honor me with...incredible...
awesome...exquisite...gripping...intriguing...thank you all

That I was able to transport you into my writing is always my goal.

To be included in some of your libraries is an honor in itself.

This piece took 3 days to finish....it began just as I was drifting off to sleep....the first 3 lines came then nothing.....the next evening I wrote down to "She laid back relaxed and waited.".......and the 3rd evening finished it.

I do have quite a few other pieces in the archives here at Passions....I've been posting since 1999.

Many blessings to you all
Always,
Eno

Eno...What a wonderful journey into the depths of your mind you have allowed us to look upon. It made me think that you were connected to another being from another time that had no knowledge of our culture & emotions and you taught him so much and became as one with him...Paul

Eno...Thanks for the explanation. I guess it is a fault of mine, but I always try to interpret poems by others in depth too try and get a glympse into their minds so that I can understand them better. I always believe a really good poem leaves the reader guessing as to the true meaning of it even though I can't seem to write one like that...Paul

Paul.......Don't look at it as a fault, jit isn't a fault to want to know someone better.

I have always believed that a good poem transports the reader.
