There wasn't any clock set
No watch to tell me when to go,
No alarm to warn me
Nothing obvious that would show.

No commercial for me to watch
No sign that I could read,
No example for me to base my guess,
I couldn't follow anyone's lead.

There wasn't any book
No articles or hidden inscriptions,
No path I over looked,
No confusing descriptions.

I hadn't any special moment,
That told me I'm done;
No one obvious reason
That proved that was the one.

But I'm laying on the floor,
Watching time spill through my gut;
Until time was too short
Shorter still cut.

I didn't get to change,
The things that I'd made as a goal;
I didn't get a chance to save,
Even my soul.

And here in the last
Minutes of breath,
I think of the past
And then think of death.

I'm not ready to leave
No not ready at all,
I didn't prepare,
And yet I had time to stall.

Plenty of words to say
To hurt those that care,
Plenty of hate to spread
And yet no love to share.

So many regrets in this
Small lapse of life,
I won't give birth
I won't be a wife.

But I was a daughter
I was a friend,
Did I play my roll good?
Til the very end?

That is one thing I'm sure
I'll probably never know,
For now when I think of it
It's time to go.
