night stretches as autumn waxes asters, wilts petunias, weathers fern and alyssum, stripes the day with cool and hot, dries the hay to baling spot, coats fauna in their winter wear, beside the mountain forest there. night stretches, day shortens, grasses wear fuzzy caterpillars, atop their stems, that dangle toward the ground, in morn, weighted by the dew they’ve worn, then lifting high, as their heads dry, toward the sun where dreams are spun. night stretches the stars awake and dipper gives the earth a shake with a drop, a drip a rain or two that kisses me and kisses you. ©August 19, 2002 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Very nice read Virginia, very nice. Chris Life is not measured by breaths you take, but by moments that take your breath away. |
